Despite the warm autumn weather throughout October and November, the UKs biggest outdoor stores GO Outdoors are reporting a huge uplift in sales of thermal underwear, ice grips for shoes and other winter essentials ahead of the coldest months of the year.
Typically November heralds the coming of the winter frost with high winds and heavy showers, resulting in a greater demand for waterproof and windproof clothing. This year however, GO Outdoors are having to keep up with a unprecedented demand for winter goods, which historically has not come until late December when temperatures begin to drop dramatically.
The warmer weather has certainly affected sales throughout the outdoor industry, said Gavin Garth, GO Outdoors Ecommerce Manager. However last years snowfall left many under prepared and unable to order the winter gear required for the colder months. But this year it certainly looks like people are readying themselves for the worst.
In January the outdoor specialist saw ice grips for shoes flying out of their stores and already the demand to get products like this early on has been exceptional. Not just warm winter clothing, but practical items including snow shovels, de-icer fluid and sledges are also proving to be unseasonably popular.
Last year many retailers had trouble shipping goods due to the heavy snowfalls, Mr Garth explained. It also made purchasing goods difficult for customers if they couldnt get to a store. So in hindsight people are getting their winter coats and shovels early to make sure that they stay warm and dont get stuck in the snow.
One of GO Outdoors most popular winter accessories this month is a folding snow shovel that is designed to be kept in the car for emergencies. After so many people were forced to abandon their cars at the side of the road during January, the demand for these products has been soaring.
This week motorway signs have appeared across the country, urging motorists to ensure that their car is ready for winter. Meanwhile savvy shoppers are already taking a Scout like be prepared attitude to a potentially snowy winter with no desire to get caught out like last year.

Global Maximus Records, LLC, (GMR) announced today that it will be releasing a music video to television featuring Country Music Artists BadHorse. The video is to accompany the newly released single of Its All Good! to worldwide radio. This marks the first major music video release by GMR for BadHorse and the bands third radio release.
The single is also now available on iTunes, Amazon Music and BadHorse websites. Global Maximus Productions, (GMP) sister Company to GMR and Starfest Direct, a division of PBS Holdings, Inc. out of Dallas, TX, co-produced the video.
The video hosted special guests stars known around the world for their major screen and television performances featuring Hollywood Actor, Jeff Fahey. The video shoot went smooth hitting the target with hundreds of people playing a part in the production.
The cast featured the bands long time friend and Hollywood Actor, Jeff Fahey. The famed movie actor whos credits have Fahey starring in several iconic roles including his roles as the Lawnmower Man and most recently as the helicopter pilot on the mega hit television series Lost. The actor traveled from Los Angeles to Nashville to help out his BadHorse friends.
“Jeff was a joy to work with and a real professional all the way, a team player and down to earth,” states Director Patrick Bricker with GMP-StarFest Direct.
The producers used extras to provide a vision of a busload of tourist stranded on a rural Middle Tennessee farm just outside Nashville. The driver of the bus, Fahey and BadHorse seemed to have an answer to the dilemma as the video captures. The stranded tourists are hungry for country music entertainment hence enters BadHorse along with a few friends they find on the way.
Fahey has over one-hundred-thirty (130) films and television credits throughout his accomplished career. Being a long time friend to the band and big fan of their music, Fahey wanted to help pull the entire concept together.
BadHorses worldwide fan base continues to grow and stems from their initial two hit radio singles in Mississippi Rain and the emotional military tribute song, My Little Man. The release of Its All Good! is a feel-good song already being played in over 80 markets and growing in demand.
The bands first two singles did well on multiple charts around the world including both singles hitting #1 multiple weeks on New Music Weekly Charts. The video will showcase the creativity of the group and the fun up beat tempo of the song. Its All Good is a feel good sing-a-long song that has elements of crowd involvement in the lyrics.
This matches with the bands reputation for putting on great live performances. That again was proven to a crazed New York crowd of nearly 5,000 fans and a very happy sponsoring country music station. The bands New York performance, which was this past 4th of July weekend, was sponsored by the New Country 96.1 which by all accounts produced a very successful Freedom Festival in Long Island celebrating our nations freedom.
The video will be released in two different versions. One version made for music television and a bonus extended version that will have the entire full length acting scenes that come from the opening and close of the video starring Fahey with Badhorse.
The band wanted to assure that a positive message was being driven about the friendliness and hospitality of the State of Tennessee and the surrounding Nashville area. In this video, it is Nashvilles new Country Music to the rescue with the video showcasing multiple characters.
The producers staged BadHorse to bring in the troops to save a busload of Nashville bound tourists. (Bad)Horseback riders, fire engines, cars, trucks, dune buggys among many other modes of transportation aided cast members in the rescue of the tourists starving for Nashvilles Country Music.
Although it did get a little wet and wild on the set, the video was filmed in beautiful College Grove, Tennessee at a ranch belonging to GMR Producer, Martin Silverman. Silverman also is co-owner of the very popular Nashville Italian eatery PortaVia located in Belle Meade with another store opening soon in Franklin, Tennessee.
An added bonus edition of the video will be inside the self-titled BadHorse CD/DVD release. The extra DVD will be loaded with live performances and behind the scenes footage. The DVD will also feature the bands upcoming performance on Maximus Overdrive a live music show starting this fall being produced by the same producers.
The sticky sing-a-long summertime party song made-to-video provided for a ton of fun for BadHorse, the crew and participants to enjoy. It was All Good!

The Optima was crash-tested in Australia to gain its rating while the Australia New Car Assessment Program has accepted the recent 5-star result the Rio was awarded in the EuroNCAP testing program.
Kia has made a commitment to providing Australian drivers with not only the most stylish and well-engineered new vehicles but also the safest, Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer, Tony Barlow, said.
It is our stated intention that every new car that we bring to market in Australia will benefit from Kias safety research and development program and it is our expectation that no new model into the market will fall short of the 5-star ANCAP rating the Australian buyer expects and deserves.
Optima scored a best-in-class result with 35.58 points out of a maximum 37. Side protection returned a perfect score of 16 out of 16, as did the optional pole test with two out of two. Frontal impact safety scored 14.58 out of 16 while the standard inclusion of electronic stability control and seatbelt reminders for all passengers rounded out the final tally.
In the European testing Rio achieved high scores for Adult Occupant Protection (92 percent), Child Occupant Protection (84 percent) and Safety Assist Equipment (86 percent), and Kia also received praise from the testers for fitment of ESC as standard in all European markets.
Kias 5-star garage now includes Rio, Soul, Optima, Sportage and Sorento.
