According to Dataium, the largest aggregator of online automotive shopping activity, the hefty discounts and incentives offered by car manufacturers helped to maintain consumer interest over the Thanksgiving weekend. Visitor traffic to auto websites on Black Friday was down by less than 6% over a typical Friday, as compared to last year which saw over 200% decline in traffic. Additionally, the overall number of visitors searching and submitting leads on dealership websites remained stable.
As compared to an average Friday, luxury manufacturers, BMW and Cadillac, saw gains in unique visitors on Black Friday, up 9% and 6% respectively. While Toyota and Mazda experienced slight losses, both down almost 13%.
Aided by deep discounts, domestic models Lincoln MKZ and Buick Enclave, were the big winners on Black Friday, boosting leads by 1475% and 531% respectively. Close behind the domestics was the import from Germany, the Volkswagen Tiguan, which boosted by financing and leasing deals, was one of a few models to enjoy higher searches and leads than an average Friday.
“Overall this was a good Thanksgiving weekend for most auto dealers,” stated Eric Brown, CEO of Dataium. He continued, “The online interest generated over the weekend should translate into improved sales over the remaining holiday season and through the New Year.”

On Sunday, Dec 4, several staff members from Narconon Fresh Start Drug Rehabilitation and Education group ran in the 11th Annual Say No to Drugs Race, which is a 10K and 5K road race and fun run held in the back lots of Universal Studios. There are many past and present sponsors of the race including Southwest Airlines, Wells Fargo, Toyota and Honda among the many others. The proceeds from this race benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank and the Greater East Valley, The Foundation for a Drug Free World and Narconon Drug Prevention and Education. These funds help thousands of children not only say no to drugs, but really understand why they should say no to drugs.
The Master of Ceremonies was radio personality, Richard Blade who did a fantastic job hosting the event. There were around 3500 race participants (including the 5K Fun Run and Kids Fun Run) and many more supporters attending the race. Also, there were many informational booths from Narconon Drug Prevention, the Boys and Girls Club, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency and many more.
The course wound through the back lot of the studio and down several hills and through some of Hollywoods most famous sets, including the Bates Motel, Spartacus Square, Jaws, Little Mexico, Whoville, War of the Worlds and more. All of the sites from the sets made for a very entertaining race for the participants. One participant said, It was really fun to run through the War of the Worlds set, because we got to pretend that we were running for our lives, which was really funny.
Afterward, Narconon staff members were brought up on stage and honored for their dedication in the fight against drug addiction. The staff at Narconon Fresh Start plans on bringing many more participants to support these great causes at next years race. Street Toyota is excited to announce that they will be volunteering at the Eveline Rivers Deliver Day on December 10th at 8:30 am. The Street Toyota Marketing Department will be sending a Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra to the event to help pile the trucks full of presents for children surrounding the area.
The event will go through out the day until all of the presents have been delivered. Amarillo citizens show up at the Eveline Rivers facility to volunteer their time and cars to deliver the presents.
